Flying roots is an expression I came up with personally. I am a girl deeply rooted in her community, family, values and faith about to take off for an adventure of a life time.
If you do not know me let me introduce myself. My name is Jessany. I am a seventeen years young. I like to explore and try new things. In my spare time I enjoy cooking/baking, spending time in my church youth group and doing other teenager stuff. I've graduated from high school a year early.
I plan to put this extra year to good use as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student!! The Idea of being an exchange student sounds pretty surreal, but there are great programs out there like Rotary International (www.rotary.org).
This will be the most challenging year of my life so far. I can not pretend that I am completely prepared for the obstacles that will come my way, but I know that that's OK. I have received a lot of support from many like: the St.Paul Rotary Club, Youth Exchange Committee, District 5950/5960, Amy (my Japanese coach), Ann (my liaison), teachers, my church, chuck (youth pastor), friends, family, Drew (my boyfriend of 1 year), my mom, and many more. It takes many volunteers to send one person around the world for one year. Can you imagine thousands of students going around the world every year?
Well my departure date is August 16th 2010 and I'm as ready as a Minnesota girl can be. I know where ever I go my roots will follow so............ LET ME FLY!!!
Fly Away Jessany! I know you will have a wonderful adventure and look forward to hearing all about it through your blog. God Bless you as you go!
